  • A significant portion of the money used to buy new books for the library
  • Money for special projects, such as children's computer systems, furniture, etc.
  • Host "Sundays at 2" Community Events
  • Partial funding for shelving
  • Trick or Treat Street
  • Saturday Storytime
  • Other special needs as they come up!

Purpose

We assist the Palmer Public Library in developing programs to meet current community needs, promote  knowledge of and participation in library programs, and aid in providing funds to meet special library needs.

History

The Palmer Library started in a Colony tent in the late 1930's. In October, 1945, the Palmer Library Association was formed with a constitution and Articles of Incorporation as a non-profit organization in the Territory of Alaska. Palmer Library was officially recognized in 1946, and moved around until the permanent location was completed in 1985, with volunteer "friends" support every step of the way.  Today's iteration, Friends of the Palmer Public Library, Inc has been active since 1980.

Helping Our Community

We believe in the library. It's not just a collection of books. It's a place to grow, a place to learn, an expression of our community. The services offered at the library impact the lives of the people who visit, and through them, the community at large. Friends of the Palmer Public Library Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization of community volunteers dedicated to promoting the Palmer Public Library and all that it stands for.
